A few weeks ago, Microsoft released a pretty major update to Office for Mac 2011 — Service Pack 2 brought a number of enhancements, but it also appears to have brought some issues to the Outlook database. Microsoft said in a blog post that these issues were only affecting a small number of users, but the company has decided to temporarily stop pushing out the update to Office users through the AutoUpdate tool while it works on a fix. However, users can still download and apply the update manually if they so choose. Microsoft just urges them to first follow some directions it posted earlier in the week to help avoid any database issues — all you need to do is rebuild your Outlook database first before applying the update. Otherwise, you'll need to wait for Microsoft to push the update back out, but there's no word yet on when that will happen.
