History seems to be repeating itself.
Seeegggaaa.
Once a beloved hardware company, now an also-ran software company.
I believe that this is where Nintendo is heading.
With Sega they had a console that was massively successful at launch (Saturn)
Nintendo had a console that was massively successful at launch (Wii)
that died quickly. WIth last-gen specs and poor graphics and a poor selection of games, few bought it later (Saturn)

The console had a cool set of features and games no one could compete with (Saturn, CD-quality games and sound, arcade-like graphics)

So they began to go into the red. (Sega)

They had a not-so-last-ditch-effort to save the company, called the Dreamcast. It was a great system and had some cool unique features. Including a SCREEN in the CONTROLLER!!

With Sega, the company declared they were exiting the hardware business after sales of the Dreamcast stopped after people started buying into the hype of a competitor (PS2 for those of you who don't know.)
With Nintendo who knows what will happen?
Their situation seems exactly the same. I hope to god it ends differently.
Personal anecdote - I love both Nintendo and Sega. My favorite system is the Dreamcast, followed by the N64 so what does that tell you? 9/9/99 forever baby!
