Ads: There Goes the Neighborhood
I understand the need for ads, and I have no problem with them in general. I'll deal with that banner ad at the top, and intermixed ads on the front page, but I just saw one that worried me.
It took up the banner space, and wrapped around the content. A "gutter" ad. The kind that takes up the space on the sides when your browser is wider than the page content. To me, this takes the very detail oriented, excellent design of the site, and pushes the perceived quality way down. I have purposely whitelisted this site (and other sites I love) on my ad-blocker to support what I believe to be great content, but when the ads start to destroy the integrity of the site design, I start to rethink my choice.
