Don't be mad at Josh. It's Vlad's fault. /s

If Vlad hadn't given the Lumia 800 a 7.8, then Josh's 7.0 rating for the 900 wouldn't have appeared to be too low in comparison. In hindsight, maybe the 7.8 for the 800 was indeed too high. Or maybe it's not. But the scores are not helpful to see which is the better Windows Phone over-all.

The Verge will probably review the HTC Titan II when it becomes available shortly. It will run the same Windows Phone 7.5 operating system. Yes, there's no true multitasking, there are missing apps, the screen resolution is only 800x480, it's not an Android, it's not an iPhone, yada, yada, yada.

And once again, there will be an ecosystem rating and software rating in the Titan II review. It'll be a lose-lose-lose situation for the Verge. If it stays the same as Josh's ratings, at least they're being consistent but that won't change anyone's mind. If it becomes higher, then some may welcome it and at the same time say that Josh did get it wrong for the 900 review. And I'm afraid of what will happen when it becomes even lower.

Maybe now is a time to rethink using scores for the reviews. Engadget did away with them for good reason.
