Experience of getting featured on XDA-Developers Portal
My Android app, vocab++ just got featured on the XDA-Developers' Portal, and I wanted to share my experience about it and keep updating the kind of effect it has on boosting downloads.
Firstly, a little about the app:
"...In vocab++ we've curated images by hand that assist in helping our users remember the words thanks to visual association. Remember the illustrated books when you were a kid, that helped you learn words? That's the basic principle..."
I first contacted them using their form 5 days ago, and one of the site admins got back to me saying he found the app very useful and he'd get his writers to look into it. The post finally came up today about 4 hours back (at the time of writing) at http://www.xda-developers.com/android/vocab-an-application-to-ameliorate-your-vocabulary/
There aren't a great deal of stats I can share with you this early, since the Flurry data I use is still coming in. But, in the limited time I've already seen 53 new downloads (tripling my user base). I've also had 21 new ratings given (average is at 4.4 currently from 22) and a few feedback emails. I've also had the largest day by a country mile in terms of ad impressions (hope this will soon start converting towards revenue).
As I said earlier, I'll keep updating the stats as I get them. If you want to get the app, you can at the following links:
- Ad-supported: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appsculture.vocab
- Paid ($1) via Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007RGZJ4M
