Greatest Game Ever.... Bold title hey?

Perhaps a question that can not be answered, but hey here goes.

I’m quite sure this has been asked many times before and probably the subject of one of those dreadful 100 greatest TV programs.

You’re here and reading this so you are into games on some kind of level be it hardcore shooter fan or casual mobile gamer.

So in your esteemed opinion what is the greatest video game ever and why?

Me personally? Elite which I think originally was for Commodore Amiga? Anyway I spent more time playing this than any game before and probably since.

Any suggestions welcome.
