You can now change your Apple ID to your @me.com address.
Apple have added new functionality in the last week that lets you choose your @me.com address as your primary Apple ID.
Like many people I added an @me.com address to my @gmail.com AppleID after the launch of iCloud, and was stuck using @gmail.com as my primary AppleID login. No more!
