Is Nokia's success good for Windows Phone?

Nokia have produced the best Windows Phone [hardware] to date.
It contains exclusive apps which add to the functionality of Windows Phone.
Nokia are getting more freedom with the Windows Phone code.
Why should any other smart phone OEMs bother with Windows Phone? It is clear that Nokia are the preferred partner and will received the lions share of marketing dollars from carriers.
It is great to see a Windows Phone that really ups the anti for other OS/OEMs but is that good for the ecosystem as a whole?
Can Microsoft really go up against Apples mind share with a vertical model and be successful?
