Classic multimedia horror adventure The 7th Guest is free to download on iOS and Mac just for today. First released in 1993 by Virgin Interactive, the title pioneered the use of CD-ROM drives in video games with lengthy, pre-rendered video sequences driving the story. That's a dubious legacy, to be sure, but we have fond memories of the tightly-wound thriller. Henry Stauf was one of the first truly fearsome video game villains, and you shouldn't turn down the chance to take him on for free —especially at a time when games like Resident Evil 6 are seemingly doing all they can to distance themselves from the "horror" tag. The iOS release is a universal app for both iPhone and iPad and weighs in at a hefty 623.78MB, while the OS X version is 841.2MB from the Mac App Store.
