The last we heard on the Padfone, Asus' tablet / smartphone hybrid, was that it was launching in Taiwan at the end of April, with an Italian launch rumored for late May. However, a tweet from Asus Indonesia makes it seem like Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 shortages have delayed the Padfone's launch in at least some markets. Roughly translated, the Tweet says that Qualcomm is still experiencing Snapdragon S4 shortages, and that "unfortunately" that is the processor used in the Padfone. We sent an email to Asus to try and get a more concrete answer, and a company spokesperson again acknowledged the shortage, saying "I believe [the shortage is] affecting all of Qualcomm's customers." While that's not coming right out and saying the Padfone is being delayed due to a lack of processors, Asus appears to be including itself with the other companies who are being affected by this shortage. We're reaching out to Asus again to try and get more details on the Padfone's availability and will update the post with any more info we get.
