Profiles in iOS 6.

You all know the profiles you can select in the old Nokia phones, quickly hit the power button and you get access to Silent, Work, Normal or Custom profiles that allow you to jump to a profile with pre-configured settings. Does anyone else think this could be a natural, easy solution to the problem of consumers wanting Widgets? I think Widgets have been left out of iOS for the reason Apple doesn't think they are natural enough, you're too conscious of it. Apple works for us best when we aren't thinking about it, we are just doing. You could argue that Widgets allow you to just do with a quick glance, but I don't think Apple agrees with this philosophy. and they potentially could have been implemented much earlier. There are hints that iOS 5 was moving that way with the Weather and Stock Widget, but it's not a full implementation.

Imagine syncing your profiles to your Calendar so that when you turn up to work at a time, it will switch to a profile that will automatically turn the Brightness down, 3G and WIFI off and all the trimmings to keep it at a low enough state to receive calls, iMessage and other various Notification based apps. And when you finish work it will automatically revert back to your Normal profile with the aim of saving your battery in the day. I think this could work on the phone quite effectively, and be a simpler option that many might understand.

Or this could be completely rubbish and Widgets will get fully implemented on iOS 6, just wanted to share my thoughts on this.
