The New Macbooks - Saying goodbye to an old friend
Hello All,
No real reason for this post other than to explain why I am so excited for the new ivy bridge macbooks. The main reason is that my primary computer is a 2006 Macbook 1,1 with a core duo 2.0 Ghz 32-bit processor, 2 gigs of ram, and a 7200 640 gig hdd. I got this thing the summer before college in July 2006 and haven't looked back. The crazy thing is that it still does 95% of what I need really well. My primary reason for upgrading is the 2 gig ram limit that makes using vmware or parallels horrible and the fact that I can't upgrade to mountain lion. Boot camp rocks on this thing, but it is really annoying having to restart to use eviews and stata. I also really like those new trackpads they have on there and look forward to the gestures. Having used this computer through a double major in undergrad and a masters degree into a real job, it is finally time to retire my old friend and settle him into his position in the entertainment center.
Anyone else really excited?
