I pledge my powers to the service of Polygon

Head
Hello! I'm Alexa Ray Corriea, and I'm a brand new Reporter at Polygon. We're going to become well acquainted, you and I.

I've been writing about video games for a very long time, but only in the past year have I gone public with it. My beginnings are humble - personal blog, writing for free for a small site, some freelance work for a well-known one. Then one fateful day I tripped face-first down the rabbit hole into Polygon.

Video games are a highly meaningful entertainment medium, and are becoming a more powerful way to tell stories. I made my college years all about studying stories, picking them apart and scrutinizing how they were told - why people wanted to tell them. Game developers and designers are just like the storytellers of ancient lore, mysterious figures spinning tales over flickering campfires under star-strewn skies. They may not be so mysterious in these times, but they are still as fascinating. I want to share stories about the people who make these stories, talk nuances, breathe theories.

I cannot adequately express my excitement that the Avengers of games journalism themselves have asked me to join their team. These are people who are passionate about what they do, who believe with all their hearts in what this industry has to offer and what they can offer in return to our audience. There is so much dedication and ridiculously hard work swirling around at Polygon - it's hard to not get caught up in the rush.

Thank you Polygon - and you - for trusting me with your video games news. From here on out it's going to be a good one.

Cheers!

Alexa Ray
