How Samsung Is Holding Mobile Back

Companies can rarely live up to the hype surrounding their products, however, Samsung didn't even try. There is a saying, "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss you will land among the stars". Well in this case, it seems as though Samsung was shooting for a low hanging cloud and did a face plant. Samsung had an opportunity to change the mobile landscape, for all intents and purposes, this is their iPhone line. Instead, they chose to release a mediocre handset with gimmicky features. They also blatantly disregarded Google's new guidelines in ICS and the direction Google is trying to take Android. The feel I get from the S3 is that it is archaic and fake. Their TouchWiz Nature UX is a pointless addition. If Samsung wants to release one big phone a year, it is going to have to do better than this. I know it will sell like hotcakes, but that isn't the point, in fact that makes it even more disappointing. Millions of people will have a mediocre smartphone that has the feel of the previous generation smartphones.

Take a step back and ask yourself, is this what you really wanted from the next generation of smartphones? I hope the answer isn't yes. We need to hold these companies to a higher standard, they are capable of delivering a much better product, we need to demand it.
