Windows 8 and Computer Issues
My Gateway NV53 laptop passed away recently, and the Geek Squad at Best Buy declared the cause as a motherboard failure. I myself, being fairly knowledgeable in the technology field, do not believe this to be the cause simply because I can get it to start up still every now and then. It will turn on once, then after being powered down it simply refuses to boot up again. But that's beside the point. The point is does anyone believe the Windows 8 Consumer Preview could have played a hand in whatever failure this may be? I personally find Windows 8 a major improvement over the current Windows 7, but I'm a bit weary as to putting it on my new Intel i5 PC. If Windows 8 somehow did slowly cause the problem I would not want this PC to go the way of the old one. I have been using 8 since the dev preview though, so it's highly unlikely that it caused the issue, and software usually cannot break hardware unless its issues with cooling and what not. Also, Microsoft did state that any Windows 7 built PC will run it just fine, so again this leads me to believe It could not be the software at stake. But this is just me being a little apprehensive about the situation. What do you guys think?
