My Microsoft Cloud Dream

So yesterday I was reading this story about a potential Kinect fitness app and the cloud dream that is Windows 8 finally clicked for me.

I have previously been skeptical about Windows 8, but now I see the true power that Microsoft's ecosystem can bring.

What made this click for me is the idea of a Microsoft fitness app - not an app just for Windows Phone or Windows or Xbox, but an app for all three. Imagine this: you load up your Microsoft fitness app on your Windows Phone to go for a run which it tracks by time and GPS. Then when you get home you turn on your Xbox and load up the same Microsoft fitness app in glorious HD on your TV. Because of the extra screen real estate, the Xbox version of the app pulls your run from the cloud and displays a Bing map of your run as well as your stats. Didn't go for a run, but you did a bunch of pushups at home? Just tell the app, "Xbox, I did 50 pushups today." and it logs the activity. Then you go have a nice meal and relax with your Nokia Windows 8 tablet where you can enter your meal into the same Microsoft fitness app to track your calories.

If I knew the first thing about programming I would start building this right now, but I don't, so I present this idea to all you wonderful people here on the Verge to run with.

I really hope Microsoft has already been working on this for years and will be announcing it soon. Please don't let me down, Microsoft. Your ecosystem is overflowing with untapped potential.
