Foursquare, Starbucks, and (Red) launch check-in campaign to raise funds for the fight against HIV transmission
From June 1st through 10th, every Foursquare check-in at a Starbucks store in the United States or Canada will raise $1 as part of the (Red)Rush to Zero campaign. Created by Bobby Shriver and U2 frontman Bono, (Red) aims to raise funds and awareness for the fight against AIDS. In what Foursquare claims is its largest non-profit check-in campaign, money earned will be given to The Global Fund who will, in turn, provide resources to prevent and treat the illness. The ultimate monetary goal is to raise $250,000, and checking in during the event will earn you a limited edition (Red)Rush Foursquare badge. This particular campaign is targeted towards the tranmssion of HIV from mothers to babies, with hopes to end the epidemic by 2015.
