Dolby Atmos making its public debut in 14 theaters with Pixar's 'Brave'
We were pretty impressed with Atmos, Dolby's new multi-directional sound platform, when we took a listen earlier this week, and now it's time for audiences to get in on the action. Pixar's Brave — the first film to be released using the new format — will be arriving on June 22nd, and Dolby has released a list of theaters that will be showing it using the system, overhead speakers and all. It's a relatively small list — just 14 theaters in the US and Canada — and while California is getting the bulk of the screens, Texas, Nevada, and New Jersey are among the other states with Atmos-enabled theaters. If you'd like to hear Dolby's latest for yourself, the full list is available on the company's site.
