Thoughts on a MS designed tablet-only tablet?
Something occurred to me as I read this; a tablet running a metro-only interface that directly competes with the iPad is a lot more compelling than a tablet running full Windows (8).
What if Windows RT is purely designed to do this? I know Ballmer likes to say that a tablet is a PC and all that, but what if he got it wrong. Maybe in the R&D they realized there was no ideal form factor for a tablet that had the full PC experience as well, or that such a tablet couldn't be engineered to meet today's demands of small, light and long lasting tablets.
With the right set of apps, I know I would be interested. The 60/30 screen split with two apps running is very compelling.
I'm still feeling burned by the Courier cancellation. I know J-Tops and the gang like to wax poetically about WebOS (and justifiably), but to me the Courier was where it was at! Here was a fantastic looking platform that looked totally unlike any tablet interface both then and now. It looked like something that would not only be cool and fun to use, but genuinely useful, especially for developing ideas.
Now I'm beginning to get my hopes up... which can only be a terrible idea....
What do you guys think? Would you be interested in a Metro-only tablet with an iPad like form factor?
