An update to yesterday's statement, Sprint is now saying it won't be able to sell any Galaxy S IIIs tomorrow, June 21st, which was the phone's originally intended launch date. The carrier is placing the blame squarely on Samsung, which told Sprint that it simply wouldn't be able to deliver enough phones.

There's no updated release date yet, but in practice, the news doesn't have much effect: Sprint had already said that customers would only be able to buy the phone online and through telesales tomorrow, while brick and mortar locations would be part of the second wave. Additionally, those who pre-ordered the 16GB model should still start to receive their phones on schedule tomorrow — 32GB pre-orders, meanwhile, should start to arrive next week.

Due to overwhelming demand for Galaxy S III worldwide, Samsung has informed us they will not be able to deliver enough inventory of Galaxy S III for Sprint to begin selling the device on June 21. We are working closely with Samsung on a delivery schedule to support our launch.

We have begun shipping pre-orders for the 16GB version of Samsung Galaxy S III and anticipate they will be delivered by June 21. We hope to begin shipping pre-orders for the 32GB version next week as we receive inventory. Customers can check the status of their pre-order at www.sprint.com/myorder.
