Windows 8 for reading books?

Firstly, all the new Windows 8 news and the new Surface tablet are all super exciting. But, one thing that I have been dying to see is a tablet that is designed for portrait mode. I have wanted a tablet for long that would work well in portrait mode without feeling awkward due to the ubiquitous 16:9 form factor that is ridiculous when trying to read books in portrait mode. My samsung slate is great and amazing in landscape mode, but I can't help but feel frustrated when trying to read books with it. Now I do have a kindle, and I love having a dedicated reading device, however, it lacks severely when trying to work with PDFs and other documents where I want to take notes, annotate, and edit with a digitizer pen and so forth (which is why Windows 8 would be great: it has superior pen features) .

Here's what I want: a Windows 8 tablet with a form factor designed for portrait mode reading, probably 4:3 or whatever, just not widescreen. Working with PDFs would be super fluid, its dead slow on the Kindle. Having a full fledged internet browser for research, as an additional source, would also make such a device desirable, compared to the Kindle.

What do you think? Are there any tablets slated for the future that plan to make a device focused on portrait mode reading. I can only imagine that there are a lot of users in my boat who want to take advantage of all the app features of Windows 8, but want the comfort of holding the device to read books with.
