The offer was previously only available at Microsoft's retail outlets as a trial retail model, but Microsoft says that the expansion is still part of a "pilot period." The offer provides customers with a lower upfront cost for the 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect and Xbox Live Gold, by saddling them with a two-year Live Gold commitment at $14.99 a month.
