Google account authentication issues
A friend hit me up on chat about 45 minutes ago saying that he couldn't sign in to any of the google apps on his phone like gmail for example. He kept getting an error message stating that "you entered the wrong password or your account has changed. Please re-enter your password."
I figured that maybe some app data got messed up so I told him to start by deleting the app cache, try again, and if that doesn't work then remove app data. Neither worked for him. I thought that maybe his account was compromised so I told him to log on via the web. No problems. So I had to go to dinner so I told him that I would help him later.
To my surprise after I came back from dinner I looked at my phone and it also told me that I needed to re-enter my password. My password was unsuccessful and I attempted a few times to be sure that I got it right.
My friend also stated that he was having problems with his desktop g-talk client. He thought that maybe there was an issue with application specific passwords. So I checked in to that but I don't have 2-step verification turned on so I don't know why that would be a problem for me.
Anyone else experiencing similar problems??
