Galaxy S3, what to expect in the next 2 years...
I am currently on iOS with the iPhone 4. I have had the 3G, then the 3GS the next year, and then the iPhone 4 the following year. I have had the 4 now for 2 years and have been mostly happy with it. I skipped the 4S because it was a joke of an upgrade from the 4, in my opinion. And with the rumors circling that the iPhone 5 will only have a 4" screen and the demo of iOS6, I am starting to look at Android.
The Galaxy S3 has caught my eye. I like the bigger screen and the customization of Android. I also like the look of what Jelly Bean is bringing vs iOS6. I feel like Android is more of the cutting edge OS vs iOS isn't changing much or adding many new features. I like the removable battery on the S3 because, as it is now, I have a battery case on the iPhone to make it through the day.
So in terms of build quality I assume the S3 will be as good as any iPhone. Not being familiar with Android phones, my question really is how many updates can I expect with the OS if I got the S3 currently running ICS. I assume it would get Jelly Bean at some point in the distant future. Anything past that? How many updates can be expected with an Android phone, without rooting?
I am running the most current iOS. It started with iOS 4 and has had several updates (many of them bug fixes) and then iOS5 followed by its bug fixes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOS
Just curious what to expect as far as updates goes with Android and a GS3. Thanks for any info!
Oh, and I am not a total Android noob, I do have the Galaxy Tab 2 7" that I use only as a podcast player.
