Amazon reportedly to launch Kindle, ebook sales in Brazil
Amazon may be entering the Brazilian market for the first time, but reportedly it won't be going into the country with a full retail effort. Instead, Reuters reports, the company plans to simply sell Kindle ebook readers and build a library of ebooks to sell for the devices. Apparently there are "logistic and tax difficulties" that Amazon isn't quite ready to tackle, but that it does aim to have a "full retail operation" at some point.
In the meantime, Amazon is said to be trying to build up an offering of 10,000 in time for the holiday season and may begin selling Kindles as early as October — though they would reportedly retail for much more than they do in the US.
