Android 4.0 download now available for Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx
Starting today, users of Motorola's Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx can access a manual download of Android 4.0 through the devices' settings menus. The news comes from Verizon PR rep Scott Charlston on Twitter and is intended to appease users who have not yet received automatic updates to Ice Cream Sandwich.
When Google released its latest set of Android install figures at the beginning of this month, ICS still accounted for a meagre 7.1 percent of devices, with the relatively ancient Android 2.2 retaining 19.1 percent. Google's latest release, Jelly Bean, is already making its way on to the Galaxy Nexus, and manufacturers and carriers will want to stem the tide of fragmentation as much as possible — this may be a small step, but it's something.
