RX100 thoughts?
DPs extensive explanations of the camera if you're unfamiliar: http://www.dpreview.com/previews/sony-dsc-rx100/
Im very interested to see if people think Sony is chasing a dead category here. They managed to squeeze a bigger sensor in there with a nice fast 1.8 (albeit pretty slow once you zoom) which is quite impressive but the price increase was pretty huge. Is there room for a camera like this any more. It's putting it into the EVIL price range and I wonder if you can justify the lack of interchangeable lenses and the smaller sensor purely for pocket ability?
Do any of you actually carry a P&S any more? I find myself frustrated by the lack of function and capability when I carry mine around so I generally don't do it. If I don't have a camera on me and see something cool I use my phone and then curse myself for not carrying my proper camera and therefore not getting the shot I wanted. My canon P&S is pretty lonely at this stage.
Also do anybody else feel Sony is kind of stealing the thunder in these new categories a bit? You don't hear much from Canon or Nikkon in regards to mirrorless or innovative P&Ses any more. I can understand nothing on the P&S front but I don't understand why canon has nothing to offer on the EVIL front. EVILs are already, and will continue to grow into, a very lucrative market in my opinion. I really want to see canon do something interesting with this form factor.
Anyways interested in your thoughts.
