How to Fix the Nexus Q?
1. Just allow third party streaming. Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant, and Pandora would be a great start. To make programming easier just use the Google TV software as a base and hide away the interface.
2. Put that functionality into the Q app also so that there's an action bar option to add another "channel" and the rest of the app should be designed sort of like Google Music with a horizontal sliding list of channels and the queue as the first option. Have Play Music, Play Movie, and Youtube as the 3 defaults and adding channels would put them on the horizontal list. There should be a clear button on each song or video to add to the queue and one to send to the top of the queue and play immediately. Long pressing should create bring up one option to add all items after that into the queue and one to add all items in a season or album. Swiping while in the queue tab should remove songs/videos.
3. Fix the performance issues. I feel the Q would have gotten 1 or 2 more points in the review if it didn't have so many bugs with HD streaming and Q order.
4. Cut out the amp and Galaxy Nexus hardware for Nexus S hardware since it's not going to need that much power. That should bring the price to $150 or less.
Bonus: This isn't really necessary but would be really nice to have. Play Games could be another tab. You would start up the game in the queue and it would launch the app. While playing the game all the video and audio is sent to the cloud and streamed on the TV.
What do you think? Will Google do anything remotely like this to improve sales? It's pretty obvious they know it won't sell very well in its current state.
