Google analytics goes mobile with alerts and real-time data
It's been a long time coming, but Google Analytics users now have an official way to track the performance of their websites on mobile devices. Google Analytics for Android provides a mobile-optimized version of the standard Analytics interface, including familiar elements such as the addictive real-time view. It also includes some new features, including customizable alerts which integrate with the Android notification center.
The release coincides with the start of the beta testing phase for Mobile App Analytics, Google's new service for tracking the performance of mobile apps — interested developers can sign up here for whitelist access. While data is available for both iOS and Android apps, integration with Google Play allows Android developers to get more detailed information, including traffic sources. It's a slick service, and the Google brand should allow it to compete easily with established providers such as Distimo and Flurry.
