AMOLED (any) Vs. LED (any); blackest black or whitest white?
I've complained about my GNX and now I've checked at several phone peddlers and it appears my GNX is "normal". Right out of the block I was amazed at how yellowish the screen appeared, especially the whites. I noticed it viewing YouTube vids as well. SO nothing I can to, either get used to it or get another phone with LCD. It's not the phone, it's me.
But, what do we actually want from a phone screen?
Marketing's been telling me AMOLED is an "advancement in screen technology" and that "the colors are popping" and the blacks are TRULY black. Yes, the blacks are "truly black" and they look really really good. Compared to the iPhone, the blacks are better hands down. But what's really better?
I've not really complained about blacks in ANY phone before. IMO you actually have to look for something wrong to notice it. Even then, it's not a big problem because my eyes still perceive the color as black. But with every AMOLED screen I have looked at, the white's are at best "off-whote" and most of the time they have a slight yellowish tint. That's not even when I'm looking for it, then it's just looks dirty, old and burned in.
Am I totally off my hinges here? Are you guys ready to settle for this "offwhite" screen technology?
