Samsung galaxy note 10.1: Where is it and does anyone care anymore?

Do you remember the Samsung galaxy note 10.1 that was announced at MWC?

5 months after it's announcement and it's still nowhere to be found.

It was briefly put-up for pre-order on Amazon last month for few hours with laughably inaccurate specs (xeon processor??) and then taken down promptly. I managed to place an order before it was taken down though. The estimated delivery date provided to me was July 12-July 20. Today I got an email from Amazon saying the delivery date has been pushed to Aug 17th now.

It was also briefly put up for pre-order on J&R website and again taken down the same day. Again, I managed to place another pre-order ( as a back-up) during the time it was up. I heard from J&R customer reps yesterday that the release has been pushed back to Aug. 15th.

I haven't experienced a product release bungled worse than this one.

What is even more baffling is 5 months after iPad 3 release and yet we don't have a proper response from any of the Apple competitors.

You have to give credit to Apple though that they are masters in conceptualizing, designing, producing, announcing and then actually bringing products to market.

I am eagerly anticipating the releasing of the galaxy note 10.1, which for me is without par in the tablet space due to its excellent wacom based note taking capabilities.

I wonder if Samsung and others have given up on Android tablets and are bidding their time waiting for the release of Windows 8, which undoubtedly has the potential to sweep the tablet market in a way that Android has so far seemed incapable of doing.
