The Verge app thoughts and suggestions
These really came about accidentally, which I believe is as it should be - what I mean is, I tried to do something with the app in the normal course of using it, and couldn't, which personally I believe is better testing than a sort of brute force approach.
Firstly, search. I'm sure it's in the pipeline, because it's so obvious - I want to find an article, and I have to do a sort of manual search for it, hitting 'more', 'more', 'more' - if I want to find an old article, it's browser time.
Links. Clicking a link in an article that points to another Verge article is a browser jump. Would love it to open the article in the app. Depending on data structures used, that's either pretty straightforward, or a monumental task.
Follow updates to any article. I'm particularly interested in this, because my project for the HCI course from Coursera was on this sort of thing (I don't mean that to sound like an accusation - because my inspiration was The Verge's Story Streams anyway, which I cited in my work). But what I think would be great is to be able to subscribe to 'updates' (you know, when you add in an 'Update: We've heard back from...' at the bottom) in the same way as Story Stream features.
Also on that note, I want to follow Paul Offline. That's really creepy, but you know what I mean. I also want to follow all the What's in your bag features, but because they're not Streams, I can't.
That's all that's sprung to my mind for now, I'd be interested to hear other people's take too.
