Just over a month after its launch, LG is rebranding its Siri-style Quick Voice personal assistant tool in an apparent attempt to compete with Samsung's S Voice. Now known as "Q Voice," the service provides standard voice control functions for Korean-speaking users, integrated with 11 default Android apps, including Email, Alarm and Calendar. According to LG, an English-language version is planned for the first half of next year.
Q Voice uses voice recognition software from Google in combination with LG's own proprietary "Wernicke" engine for processing sentences and extracting meaning. Already available for the 5-inch Optimus Vu slab, Q Voice will be coming to the Optimus LTE II via software update at the end of this month, and the company notes that service will be included with all future smartphones.
