Choosing a new laptop in changing times
As a student with an outdated and sluggish netbook, I am considering refreshing my hardware and buying a new laptop at some point in the near future.
I was actually planning on buying a 13" Macbook Air in order to get a powerful enough computer in a sexy casing and with decent battery life, but the MS conference where Surface was presented made me think again.
Now, I'm hesitating between waiting for the Windows 8 ultraportables we were promised, getting a Surface (non ARM) or getting a MacBook Air (and waiting for the next refresh just in case).
I am torn between all these exciting prospects, and I'd really like to think what the other Verge readers are waiting for in terms of hardware.
Ideally, I'd like to buy my new machine before 2013, but I could be extra patient if you think it is worth waiting even longer -oh the agony...
PS: A device enabling light gaming would be a welcome bonus, even if battery life remains one of my main concerns (along with portability). I don't really know if the current gen integrated graphics -HD 4000 if I'm not mistaken- are gonna cut it, or if the next iteration will make significant progress. I'm realist though, and I intend to play games more like Orcs Must Die than BF3.
