Welcome to Polynauts Central, here on Thursday, July 26th, 2012.

NOTICE: ALL talk about THE DARK KNIGHT RISES must only take place in this forum. No spoiling the movie for anyone here on Polynauts. It's finally out worldwide so have a thought for those who haven't seen it yet and please, keep it clean of any bats in here.

Lots to get through today folks. Here we go with the Polygon news, then forum trending topics and finally a short 90 Seconds on The Verge vidcast, with Ellis Hamburger.

NEW ARTICLES ON POLYGON:

1: 'Dead Space 3': terror, action and adventure in three acts by Brian Crecente

"My 20 minutes or so with the game, though, all take place within the confines of a single ship. While Dead Space 3, including this level, can be played cooperatively with John Carver, it doesn't have to be. Played alone, at least amidst the floating space flotsam of a ship graveyard, Dead Space 3 feels every bit like the past two entries."

2: 'Wreckateer' review: under siege by Griffin McElroy

"Wreckateer is plagued by imprecision, but not for the reasons you'd expect. With little exception, the Kinect controls work without a hitch: it's the world you're controlling that operates in defiance of physics and logic and science."

3: Valve's Gabe Newell: Windows 8 a 'catastrophe,' wristband input could be the future of gaming by Adi Robertson

"Newell also emphasized the decision to launch on Linux, calling it a boon for the operating system as well as a "hedging strategy" against Microsoft. "I think Windows 8 is a catastrophe for everyone in the PC space. I think we'll lose some of the top tier PC / OEMs, who will exit the market. I think margins will be destroyed for a bunch of people."

4: Zynga posts second-quarter loss, stock drops 35 percent after hours by Samit Sarkar

"Zynga reported a $22.8 mllion net loss for the second fiscal quarter of 2012, missing Wall Street targets and sending its stock price tumbling with a 35 percent drop in after-hours trading on the NASDAQ index."

5: 'Mercy Hospital' expansion inspired by 'Left 4 Dead' available on Steam by Dave Tach

"Mercy Hospital," the free crossover DLC for Payday: The Heist based on Valve's Left 4 Dead series, is available today on Steam for PC, developer Overkill Software announced."

FROM THE POLYNAUTS FORUMS:

1: Gaming on the Nexus 7: A Love Story (just kidding) by Benderrodriguez

"I'd hate to say it, but this tablet can do more than what my PS Vita can do in terms of gaming. And to be honest, if I had to choose between the two, I would pick the Nexus 7 tablet."

2: Need Help Deciding What Computer to Buy by Ericralph

"I have recently read several posts on why PC gaming is so great, as well as how to build a cheap but powerful gaming PC. So now an affordable gaming PC has also become an option. To get to the point, I would appreciate if you guys would help me decide by making an argument for me."

3: Polymon Trainers Assemble! by Chaosyoshimage

"IWe need to be playing more video games at this place. Now, I see lots of get-togethers for "let's play the latest shooter", but none for "let's all get together and play the Pokeymanz!" I am to change that with the first official unofficial Polygon Community Pokemon group. So, who wants in? ."

4: Tech Confession Time by Amazing Spiderham

"I don't know what Linux is. Never even seen it. What's it do? It's a operating system? Is it for PC's? Mac's? Can you play games on it? What's it used for? Why's it used? I don't get it."

5: What's your most epic gaming moment? by Shaun McIlroy

"Everyone has moments in life when they achieve something so monumental they either punch the air in excitement, or they hit up a social network to brag about it. Sometimes when playing a game you'll have these moments too, and boy do they give you a rush of adrenaline. What's yours?"

REMINDER: Polygon.com : Community Requests Thread by Shaun McIlroy

"This is our "Official Polynauts" topic for Polygon.com requests, those which we've all made mention of in anticipation of the sites launch in 2012. I thought I'd collate them all here for the Polygon team to check back and see if the stars align with their overall plans, whatever they may be."
