Taking Action

It's clear that people are unhappy with Apple right now for their recent legal debacles, at least based on what you see in the comments here. On the other hand, many people are also saying we ought not to hate the player, but rather to hate the game, and it's fair to point out that Apple aren't the only ones "abusing" the system. Either way, it seems there's something wrong going on. I don't think it is right at all that products are being banned outright, as this only hurts consumer choice. So what can we do? Boycotting Apple (or other companies)? That idea won't catch with the common consumer. Reforming the patent system? Good luck getting that to happen.

My suggestion would be to write a letter explaining why you think these patent battles are hurting consumers, but I'm eager to hear any ideas you may have as well. Can we help stop these arguably needless wars, or is the patent system as it is a necessity and these legal battles a byproduct we will simply have to deal with, even if it means the next great phone may not be landing in our hands after all?

Sound off your thoughts and ideas in the comments! Can we, the vocal minority, do anything to change this situation, or should it be changed at all?

PS: This was posted in Android Army because of the recent Galaxy Nexus ban.
