Samsung Galaxy Beam projector phone available for UK pre-order
One of the strangest phones in recent years, Samsung's Galaxy Beam, is now available for pre-order in the UK. The device, which features a built-in projector and was demoed extensively at MWC back in February, can be had for £31 per month on Orange, and will start shipping the week of July 16th. A relatively underpowered device with a bizarre hardware feature bolted on, the Galaxy Beam will likely draw comparisons with Nokia's upcoming 808 PureView, which runs the aging Symbian OS while toting an incredibly powerful 41-megapixel camera.
Its 15-lumen projector aside, the Galaxy Beam's specs are nothing special — it features a 1GHz dual-core processor and 768MB of RAM, shipping with the relatively ancient Android 2.3. Visually, it resembles the classic Galaxy S, but with a large bump sticking out of the back. It is not yet clear when the device will be available in the US.
