Will Game retailers still push out PS4? -- Xbox 8 could be Winning even before a launch

I wonder how would 'gamestop' or other game retailers react to Sony PS4. There are rumor MSFT might purchase Onlive. But they did not make the move. Could game retailers be part of the reasons.
Sony might have hit its own PS4 below the belt or throw PS under a bus. Xbox 8 will likely be filled with Win8 goodness in its the guts. Thanks to Sony management, it might Win it even without a Win 8 guts.
