Micro USB cord abuse tolerance. Let's talk about it.

God damn do I love android. Work phone is iPhone - personal phone is Android. Laptop and MBP and desktop a PC. Extensive appreciation for both environments within specific contexts. But holy crap do I hate micro USB.

Don't get me wrong - I want a standard. Proprietary charging adapters are obnoxious. But the "abuse tolerance" for micro usb is awful. What I mean by that is is - the thin piece of metal that your chargers interfaces with inside the charging port of your phone is has very little tolerance for abuse. Hold it an angle for a long time? The male receiving piece is now more brittle. Do it over the span of a year? Good luck charging your phone.

Don't know if it was intentional or not - but Apple - simply by increasing the surface area of the way the charging adapter interfaces with the device - makes it much, much harder to "break".

I apologize in advance if this is a subject already discussed. But regardless - can we raise awareness somehow? If I have to exchange another phone because it's tolerance of charging-cord-angle-whatever I'm gonna lose it.
