Crowdfunding a publication about ... Crowdfunding
Hey Vergers,
Not sure which forum to post this in, but here goes.
I've been working in the Creative Action Lab at Northwestern University as a Ph.D. Student for the past year where we study tools that enable novices to do new and creative things. We've been researching crowdfunding by interviewing people invovled in the crowdfunding community (this includes project backers, project creators and people from crowdfunding websites).
We are an academic research lab, so we are writing papers about our findings, but we've also accumulated 0ver 50 amazing stories, tips, tools and general crowfdfunding advice from those that have done it, big projects, small projects, successes and failures, and we want to give back to the community which has been so welcoming to us. So we've collected all the best material from our interviews and are creating three things:
1) A digital booklet for potential project creators. 2) A digital booklet for potential (new) backers, explaining what crowdfunding is and how it works and 3) A physical poster which helps with the initial planning of projects. We want to distribute these things to novice entrepreneurs everywhere. We're hoping to mail out the poster to places like community colleges, and startup accelerators, and we're going to put all the material online for free as well.
BUT, we need your help.. We're using kickstarter to raise the funds to design, print, and distribute our materials and we only have 8 days left, so please check us out on Kickstarter: http://kck.st/M7bed6 or tell your friends about our super awesome Facebook page: facebook.com/GoCrowdfund or our swanky website: gocrowdfund.com
I know this sounds like a shameless plug, but we're looking to better understand the crowdfunding community and this is but the first step, hopefully we can get the funds to distribute our publications, but I wanted to let all you Verge readers know! Feel free to ask me any questions!
GoCrowdfund!
