S.1832 Marketplace Fairness Act

Good article in the Washington Post about this today, hopefully there'll be come coverage on The Verge about this. This certainly isn't a new idea, but worryingly this bill is getting quite a bit of bipartisan support. I'm not saying internet purchases shouldn't be taxed at all, but it seems obvious to me that online commerce doesn't create the same level of real and social cost to government that brick and mortar stores do.
