256 GB Air or 750 GB 13" Pro?
I'm looking to buy a new Mac, probably at Christmas, and I'm really torn between getting a 256 GB Air (the £1,249/$1,499.00 model) or a 750 GB 13" Pro (again, the the £1,249/$1,499.00 model).
The SSD in the Air would be great for the serious speed improvements and Power Nap, but I'm not too keen on the relatively tight space, whereas with the Pro, I'd have a lot more freedom with the computer, and would probably have some difficulty filling it up, at least at the moment.
Right now, I have a 120 GB hard drive in my current laptop (MacBook, if you're interested) and I constantly ran into storage issues, meaning I had to invest in an external hard drive to keep all of the stuff I wanted to have. However, I want getting a new computer to bring an end to all of the inconvenience of having a ton of my stuff on an external hard drive, stuff which ranges from photos (while a friend of mine dropped my hard drive back in September so I no longer have the collection of photos I used to) to home movies (again, something I have to recollect), films and TV shows (including the vast majority of the rebooted Doctor Who) and I guess documents like Pages and Keynote documents and Pixelmator files (I like to mess about with it, which leaves me ended up with a ton of documents. I'd also like to install Windows on my new computer so I don't need to rely on a desktop computer I have downstairs which I use occasionally for completing schoolwork and a few other things, like syncing music to my phone, which would obviously take up some space, but not that much - I wouldn't need much space because I'd only really have a few programs, a small handful of documents and some music to sync to my phone.
I'd really like to know what other people's opinions are on this. I know this is my computer, and I have the best understanding of my needs, but I would still like to know what views others have based on what I've explained in this post.
Thanks in advance for responding, or at least reading my situation.
