Welcome to Polynauts Central, here on Monday, August 13th, 2012 - International Lefthanders Day! Are you a leftie? Why not scrawl something below, left handed style as we spend a few minutes going over the news of the previous day gone by.

NEW ARTICLES ON POLYGON:

1: eBay seller claims to be auctioning a Microsoft Xbox Durango development kit - UPDATE: Sold for $21K by Tracey Lien

The tower, which is supposedly for the next-gen Xbox, was posted by eBay user SuperDae earlier this morning and listed additional items like a wireless controller and power supply. The auction includes only a single image of a non-descript tower, with no further details on its contents. The starting price for the tower was set to $1, and when contacted by The Tech Game, SuperDae said: "All proceeds go to charity. And by charity, I mean my new car."

2: 'Pitfall!' (iOS) review: in search of gold, prepare to spend by Chris Plante

Pitfall! isn't a game that gets harder as you play; it just gets more expensive. Without paying the IAP, you will be replaying the same early parts of the run over and over. The repetition making the game's flaws more obvious. Seeing the same setting so many times, you notice the rough polygonal edges, the glitchy character animations, that the touch controls can be a little unreliable. A cheap death is doubly annoying when it has come after a 10-minute round that could have been one-minute if you just had the ability to start at a checkpoint without a token.

3: Firemonkeys is aiming to be one of the greats, says executive producer by Tracey Lien

"I think we're really showing the leadership position now in Australia," Murray told Polygon. "We have a very clear position in it and I think the resources we've gotten from EA have been very significant. For example, we now have the resources to research the tracks in [Firemonkey's upcoming mobile game] Real Racing 3.

4: People Can Fly founders leave Epic Games to 'pursue other opportunities' by Brian Crecente

Adrian Chmielarz, founder of Bulletstorm developer People Can Fly, and two top artists are no longer with the studio Chmielarz founded in 2002, Epic confirmed to Polygon today. "Adrian Chmielarz, Andrzej Poznanski and Michal Kosieradzki have parted ways with People Can Fly and Epic Games in order to pursue other opportunities, which they will announce of their own accord," Epic Games president Mike Capps told Polygon.

5: Florida man selling his video game business and life on eBay by Tracey Lien

The listing, which includes the three R.U. Game? store locations in Tampa, Florida, all the video games within the store, coin-op arcade units, the e-commerce website of the stores, Butcher's waterfront property, three cars and three kayaks, and a waterfront rental condo, is going for $3.5 million with a $10,000 good faith deposit required of the winning bidder.

FROM THE POLYNAUTS FORUMS:

1: Sequels, Prequels and Remakes by PaddyStardust

In this modern games landscape, we may clamour for new IP every other week, but the franchises and sequels make the dollar. Games companies want your money, and franchises are how they achieve this goal. You only need to look at the numbers to see we're suckers for a sequel. Whether the game continues the story, improves the gameplay or is nothing more than a graphical overhaul, people buy them.

Sorry if it's already been posted. That's a good looking dropdown menu!

4: Online Multiplayer Cross-Platform Sidescrolling Platformer Games by Infinity8

So, I have been badly wanting to play some games with a (new to gaming) friend of mine, turns out I couldn't find many games that were easy (Sidescrolling/ simple controls), cross platform (I have Windows, she has a Mac) and have online multiplayer option. I tried introducing her to gaming with Trine 2, that has Online Multiplayer, is Cross-Platform and a Sidescroller, but the multiplayer issues with that game are just terrible. Also, she found it slightly difficult and I couldn't really explain the game to her. Does anybody know any games I can play? Free and paid, both are okay. Thanks :)

5: Lets Play Mass Effect, Together. by PrinceLUDA21

So here is the deal. I would like to test a experiment I have about community input. As some might know the Mass Effect games didn't get a spot on my best of list. But like Resident Evil 4, I own multiple copies of each game. Needless to say I love the series. I love it so much that I am working (fighting) my way to create a webseires related to the show. But I'm trying something different with the show. I would like to add the audience's input on events. Similar to how Mass Effect allowed players to help shape the games in their story. Unlike the games this is a community effort, with "YOU" as the audience.

6: The Achievement & Trophy Thread: Braggart's Banquet Edition by Mintycrys

Like the title says, list your maxed gamerscores and platinum trophies. Got a particularly cool achievement or trophy you want to show off? Post it here. While it's easy for people to check your profile for achievements, nothing beats a good old-fashioned picture of that glorious moment when you earn it.

REMINDER: Polygon.com : Community Requests Thread by Shaun McIlroy

This is our "Official Polynauts" topic for Polygon.com requests, those which we've all made mention of in anticipation of the sites launch in 2012. I thought I'd collate them all here for the Polygon team to check back and see if the stars align with their overall plans, whatever they may be.
