The real Windows RT price...
Paul Thurrott commented on the "$199 Surface RT" rumor whilst on What The Tech and said that he had seen the list of Windows RT launch devices (even hinting that he was looking at it right then and there) and that $199 was "less than half of cheapest device".
That means the cheapest Windows RT device will be between maybe low $400's and $500.
The $199 rumour could still be a part of a subscription deal, an introductory price for registered developers or a time-limited offer... but I think it's safe to say the ongoing price will be higher.
I'm sticking with my $599 prediction for the Surface RT. There is certainly enough value in Windows RT to justify that price point. We'll have to wait and see if Microsoft can accurately convey that message to mainstream consumers
