Welcome to Polynauts Central. It's Thursday, August 16th, 2012 which means we are in day two of Gamescom. Remember to keep an eye on the Gamescom Story Stream which has 85 updates as of now, as well as the @Polygon Twitter feed throughout the day for up-to-date news.
Also, if you're into comics, manga and anime and want a nice organised place to talk about those, then head on over to Crisis on Infinite Polygons for chaosyoshimage's all-in-one thread.
So with all that, join me now and lets spend a few minutes going over the Gamescom news from yesterday by way of a series of video updates.

Shouldn't we talk about how we like video game
Yes my Vita, I ♥ you so much because I can play serious games even when I'm not at home for a certain amount of days
3: The Games that Introduced you to a new Genre by Cobaltios
We've most certainly have been there; been playing our favorite games, usually sticking a some key game types for a while due to comfort and familiarity. Then, out of nowhere, a game comes in that actually looks rather appealing, so we jump in and decide, "hey, this is actually pretty fun!". It's those unique games that are of a known genre, but have enough sub-genres to them, that it makes getting into the primary one that much more appealing.
So, what games got you into the right genres?
4: Bowser's Inside Story: What makes this game good? by Blobbeh
..when I went on Metacritic, I was surprised. There wasn't a single negative review of the game. In fact, there wasn't even a score under 80. I was originally going to make a lengthy post pointing out the flaws in the game, but I figured that would just cause unnecessary arguments. So, in place of that, can someone please tell me what I'm missing in this game? I honestly have no idea how this game received so much praise.
REMINDER: Polygon.com : Community Requests Thread by Shaun McIlroy
This is our "Official Polynauts" topic for Polygon.com requests, those which we've all made mention of in anticipation of the sites launch in 2012. I thought I'd collate them all here for the Polygon team to check back and see if the stars align with their overall plans, whatever they may be.
