Creating a new social application that is the first of its kind; advice?
Hey everyone,
I'm in the process of designing and starting to create an app from an idea I had for a new type of social networking I thought of. I don't know how to code but am learning in college, but say I were a complete beginner -- How would you guys recommend I learn to code for Windows Phone 8. Ideally, I'd like this to be launched ASAP (I have a history of thinking of inventions or apps and waiting too long, only to be beaten to the punch!) so if your recommendation is "hire a coder" that works as well. Finally, while I love creating art, I don't know too much about actual UI design.
I've made some mockups but at this point I don't feel comfortable telling people publicly about the app (call me paranoid, but I've seen The Social Network :P). Should I be looking at hiring a graphic designer, an artist, or something different entirely? Is there such thing as an "App Designer?"
I'd love for some advice with starting off from scratch with this project and am going to cross post this post with different content (eg. how can I start from scratch coding for iOS in Apple Core, Android in Android Army, etc.). Also, If you are one of these things i'm looking to hire, please please let me know and send me some examples of your work and maybe we can become partners!
Though I can’t tell you everything about the app, it essentially fills the void of a social network in the time from knowing nothing about someone to adding them on facebook/twitter/instagram. That’s why I think it can coexist peacefully with these juggernauts and even feed them into those social networks, and therefore won’t be stomped out by the competition.
I apologize if it seems spammy to crosspost so much, but I really want to get a wide response and learn as much as I can about different coding environments and how the different landscapes of the iOS App Store, the Google Play Store, and the Windows Phone Store. I am a student in college, so hopefully I can get a discounted develop rate to devolop on each of these platforms, too! Thanks for reading.
