What are your favorite Productivity Suites? (MS Office, Open Office, ETC)
Now, I'm not entirely sure if something along these lines has been posted yet, and if it has, please feel free to let me know. ( I did try searching the forums, but couldn't find anything, I could always be wrong though)
All that gibberish aside; I had been kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place so to speak about Productivity Suites for about 2 years. I've always been an avid MS Office user ever since Office 95, my parents are accountants so I always had access to the latest Microsoft Office, and we even had Lotus back in the day. But I digress, in the last 2 years I've been using more than just my Windows 7 PC, and I'd been finding it hard to get a decent Productivity Suite that worked like Office did. That was, until a friend of mine introduced me to Open Office. It worked very similarly to MS Office. The only issue was the presentation tool seemed to lack some of the features that the MS equivalent had, which for my uses really didn't bother me too much because the Spreadsheets worked great, and the Word Processor had most of what I needed to get my work/school work done . Also on the up side it was Open Sourced, and being an avid supporter of Linux, that just made all the more reason for me to use in on my OS' outside of Windows. (I run 4 hard drives for my laptop, a hackintosh, Ubuntu's latest OS, Backtrack, and Lubuntu) But since I've been using my Gmail lately for more than just emails at work, I've been getting into using Google Docs/Drive for about the last 3 months, and it's more convenient to just log into Gmail and have all my spreadsheets, docs, files just there. But the functionality of Google Docs/Drive just isn't up to snuff just yet so I still have to rely on Open Office/MS Office for most of my work related things. I've also been told to try using the Office that's built into my Skydrive, but I have yet to try it, mainly because all my coworkers have Gmail, so sharing documents to Gmail and from Gmail is just that much more convenient.
So I guess what I'm getting at, what are your Productivity Suites of choice? And why?
Also, I'm more than open to suggestions for other Suites to try out. So suggest away!
