Apple vs Samsung: Why Samsung Actually Won!
So the jury announced something we all expected, even though I believe that Apple's patents were a load of crap the jury didn't and even though they awarded Apple the win and about 1 billion in damages Samsung still won this case.
If we go off what the jury alone said, Samsung wilfully infringed on Apple's patents and copied the iPhone. So by going off that, Samsung has had to pay Apple to become the worlds largest smartphone manufacture.
The good thing about this trial is that Samsung's most successful phones were not included, the international Galaxy S2 was removed from the trail and the Galaxy S3 was never in it.
So according to the outcome of this case, Samsung paid Apple 1 billion dollars to become the largest smart phone manufacture in the world and last quarter alone they made 5.86 billion dollars of operating profit.
Going by all this, it seems like Samsung actually won this battle even though Apple won the legal battle. One billion for 20 billion over the past two years and what looks like 20 billion over the next year alone looks like a pretty good trade off.
