Ramifications of the Apple vs. Samsung verdict...more stock Android?
There has been much speculation that Micrsoft vis a vis Windows Phone has been waiting in the wings and will benefit from the recent verdict . Many are asuming that manufacturers are gun shy about litigation and will choose to go with a product in which that is much less likely. However could the answer be something as simple as running stock Android and allowing hardware to be the additional benefit of one manufacturer over another? If we assume that Google is correct and does not believe that stock Android infringes upon any patents, then wouldn't it make more sense for an HTC to just put out the phones with stock Jelly Bean? They could then add some of their apps, like HTC's camera app as an additional app only on HTC devices, but none of the root OS issues would be present. I doubt any of this will happen, but I wish it would as I would love to have stock Android on all devices so I wouldn't have to make a choice between software and hardware.
