Reddit Donate launches for nonprofit crowdfunding: 'no gimmicks, no tricks, just buttons'
Reddit certainly has its horrors, but the community has also used its powers for good, spreading knowledge and speaking out on important issues that affect millions. Today, e-payment network Dwolla announced the creation of Reddit Donate, a service that allows moderators to add donation buttons for a charity of their choosing to their subreddit. Right now Reddit Donate lists 13 different verified nonprofits, but more can register at redditdonate.com, and non-redditors can make contributions at the site as well. The donation buttons aren't ugly or intrusive and can easily be ignored, but the service gives the Reddit community easy access to throw their support behind the issues they care about.
